Health Care is a Human Right!
Recent policy changes have happened to where immigrants and the undocumented have very few resources on access to healthcare due to Trump's laws. We have a chance to help out this situation. We should be donating to local legal services. Volunteering at care centers and educating ourselves on immigrant rights. Inequality is going on in our backyard and most people are not aware. Hispanics and Latinos are the number one ethnic group with the most uninsured groups in our country. In 2012, 4.2% of the population (13.3 million people) were legal permanent residents and 3.6 (11.4 million people) were estimated to be undocumented(Chang- Muy 2016). On top of the stress of migrating and separation of families, children are still suffering from poor health. These children suffer more than twice the rates of native children (Capps and Fortuny,2006). The children are our future. Researchers say if we can start getting undocumented in for regular check-ups then this will save millions of dollars in hospital cost. We need to have stress free clinics readily available for immigrants and undocumented. Sacremento just announced that they made a budget plan to care for both groups with 5.2 million for primary care in just the first year. This is just a start. We can have this happen in TEXAS as well if we all get together and join in and help the immigrants and their families. Let's donate now!! #health4all
